Creative Consultant
OH - Cleveland

This role gives you an opportunity to stretch your artistic muscles to confidently deliver ideas, then see your ideas come to fruition by completing the hands-on creative work. As Creative Consultant, you'll develop and deliver creative print and digital ad campaigns working directly and indirectly with sales representatives. You will work as part of a team, but also work independently on your own assignments. Northeast Ohio Media Group is a new, digitally focused company that operates cleveland.com, publishes the Sun News and represents The Plain Dealer, the Sun News and cleveland.com for all multimedia ad sales and marketing. It also creates content for cleveland.com and the Sun News and is a source of content for The Plain Dealer.

The Requirements

To be a strong fit for the Creative Consultant role, you will need:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts or Design, or other relevant focus
  • Solid experience working with or in a creative services or advertising agency environment
  • The ability to work with tight deadlines and the daily pressures of print and digital ads
  • Polished designs and solutions for various products, in-house marketing pieces and ads for clients
  • Strong skills in creative designs and solutions with little input from clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work copy as a creative element 
  • The ability to produce high quality creative print and web designs in an expedient manner
  • Experience and ability to work as part of a team in order to meet the deadlines
  • The ability to create innovative and compelling visual design solutions that drive success for sales representatives and customers
Your technical skills should include:
  • Solid experience with Adobe Creative Suite including exceptional skills in Adobe In-Design and Flash, which you'll use every day, plus Photoshop and Illustrator  Quick question for you - click here
  • Some knowledge of video editing software would be helpful
  • Solid experience in graphic design for print ads and web banners
  • Some knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Proficiency using Mac; some PC is helpful
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint
  • Excellent spelling and typing with few to no errors
  • The ability to make changes to layouts based on a customer's or sales rep's feedback
  • Experience with traditional print advertising
To qualify for this role you will need a strong portfolio and web-based samples of your work.

The Role

As Creative Consultant, you will report to the Creative Services Manager and be responsible for conceptualizing, creating and delivering visual advertising solutions for digital and print media. You will work on projects independently, but will also work collaboratively within a supportive creative team. Though we each manage our deliverables independently and on a timely basis, it’s not uncommon to brainstorm or leverage individual expertise to support a teammate. 
As a consultant you will:
  • Work in a production environment with quick turnaround, whether working on print ads or online ads
  • Work directly or indirectly with sales representatives and their associates, both in person and remotely, to fully understand their needs and objectives
  • Work on projects independently, sometimes without direction or insight from the client
  • Assist other artists in making corrections with an online proofing system
  • Build digital ads and maintain flash ads and other media-rich advertisements
As an artist you will:
  • Create compelling digital and print communications that promote the strategic objectives of the company and its customers

  • Take risks and put bold ideas in front of customers and the team; modify as appropriate through corrections given in an online proofing system
  • Conceptualize and deliver fresh and innovative ad campaigns
